বঙ্গোপসাগরে সৃষ্ট গভীর ঘূর্ণিঝড় কোমেন ৩০ জুলাই ২০১৫ বাংলাদেশে আঘাত হানে । এ ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের আঘাতে বাংলাদেশে ২৩ জন নিহত হয় । কোমেন শব্দের নামকরণ করেছে থাইল্যান্ড । ‘থাই’ কোমেন শব্দের অর্থ বিস্ফোরণ বা বিস্ফোক ঘটায় এমন । উল্লেখ্য, সর্বশেষ ২১ মে ২০১৬ বাংলাদেশের উপকূলে আঘাত হানে ঘূর্ণিঝড় ‘রোয়ানু’ । দ্বীপরাষ্ট্র মালদ্বীপের দিভেহি ভাষায় একটি শব্দ ‘রোয়ানু’ । ইংরেজিতে এ শব্দটির অর্থ । বাংলায় যার অর্থ দাঁড়ায় ‘নারকেলের ছোবড়ার আঁশের দড়ি’ ।
