যথন মাত্র দুটি ব্যক্তি , বস্তু ইত্যাদির মধ্যে তুলনা বুঝাতে Comparative degree বুঝাতে হয় তখন বাক্যের গঠন হয় NP1 + be + adj + (comparative) + than NP2. যেমন: Beauty is stronger than Mili. সেক্ষেত্রে ঐ বাক্যের Positive করতে নিচের নিয়ম অনুসারে করতে হয়: NP2 + be + not + so + adj + as + NP1 Mili is not so strong as beauty.
