উপ - আঞ্চলিক সহযোগিতা সংস্থা হিসেবে BCIM economic corridor এর যাত্রা শুরু হয়। এশিয়ার চারটি দেশ বাংলাদেশ, চীন, ভারত ও মিয়ানমারের সমন্বিত উদ্যোগে গঠিত এই সহযোগিতা সংস্থার মূল লক্ষ্য হলো সদস্য রাষ্ট্রগুলোর মধ্যে অর্থনৈতিক যোগাযোগ বৃদ্ধি ব্যবসা - বাণিজ্যের বাধা - বিপত্তি অপসারণ ও বিনিয়োগ ত্বরান্বিত করার মাধ্যমেই উন্নয়নের পথে এগিয়ে যাওয়া। এক্ষেত্রে ব্যবসা - বাণিজ্যিক কর্মকাণ্ড পরিচালনায় সদস্য দেশগুলো অর্থনৈতিক করিডোর হিসাবে ব্যবহার হবে।
