In both situation she is walking the same distance. So rate × time for first trial has to be equal for rate× time for second trial. We know that trial 1 takes (8 + 4) men or 12 min or 1260 hrs longer than trial 2 let time for trial 2 be T So, 8×T = 7×(T + 1260) T = 7×1260 = 75 so Distance = 8×T = 8×75 = 565 = 11.2 km
