As in most other contemporary civilizations, agniculture was the backbone of the Indus economy. I people made extensive use of the wooden plows. Barley and wheat were the main food crops. Agriculture sustained the rudimentary urban centers that emerged (Studies in World History Volume 1. by James P. Sto baugh).
