Kushana, the most famous
Kushana ruler, patronized Buddhism. The
Fourth Buddhist Council, in which Buddhism
got split into two different schools Hi nayana
and Mahayana-, was held during his reign in
Kashmir. He also patronized the Buddhist
scholars Vasumitra, Asvagosha and Nagarjuna.
