Article 71 of the Constitution of
India, 1950, provides that all doubts and disputes
relating to election of a President or Vice-
President are required to be enquired into and
decided by the Supreme Court. This provision
comes under the original jurisdiction of the
Supreme Court of India. The petition is heard by
a five-member bench of the Supreme Court,
which decides on the matter. The decision of the
Supreme Court is final.
